2017 State Tournament has now completed week 5 of competition - see State Tournament Page for unofficial leaders ge for changes beginning with the 2017 tournament.

We are again asking that everyone make some kind of donation to our BVL 'piggy' when you come to bowl the tournament.


Shirley Thomas


Longtime Michigan State Women's Bowling Association Secretary and Life Member, Shirley Thomas passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

Shirley became a Director in 1975 and served in that capacity for eleven years. She was elevated to Fifth Vice President in1985. She served on many committees: Finance & Budget, Tournament Rules, Awards & Services, Credentials, Nominating, Hall of Fame, Legislative and Scholarship. She was elected to the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the Michigan Women's Bowling Association in 1988 and served in that position until 2001.

Following her retirement from the MWBA Board, Shirley served as Tournament Director for the Michigan Seniors Tournament for several years.

Shirley was also interested in youth bowling and was involved locally as well as on the State level, serving as director and officer of both the Midland YABA and the Michigan State YABA for eighteen years.

For her dedication and service, Shirley was inducted into the Michigan State Women's Bowling Association in the Meritorious Service category in 1990 and for outstanding bowling performance in the Midland Hall of Fame in 1986.
