Our 2010 Tournament is being dedicated to Sue McCormick, who currently serves as 1st Vice President of the Michigan State USBC Women’s Bowling Association.
Sue grew up in Illinois, joined the Air Force, met her husband, and traveled the world. It was only after they moved here to Michigan to Wurtsmith Air Force Base, that Sue became an avid and active bowler.
Within a time period of two years, she joined a league, became a league secretary and then took on the task of Association Secretary/Treasurer.
Sue is a life member of the Oscoda Women’s Bowling Association and has served both her local and the state association for more than thirty years.
As a member of both associations, she has served on dozens of committees ranging from Finance to Legislative to Planning the State Delegate luncheon at the National Conventions.
But the one she continues to consider one of the most important is her involvement and work with the youth. And although there no longer is a Wurtsmith AFB youth program, she continues to promote and help youth year after year.
Sue currently sits on the State Youth Board and is also a league secretary to a large Senior League – and by that I mean Senior as in Age – Come to think of it, there are many similarities between youth and Seniors!
Most of you know Sue for her wit and as the editor of the State’s Ten Pin Topics Newsletter for which she has won several honors including the State Bowling Council’s Journalist Award. But she has also been involved with Girl Scouts and the American Red Cross.
For her many years of service to our game, Sue was inducted into the Michigan State USBC Women’s Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame in 2004 and today we dedicate the 2010 tournament to her. Congratulations Sue and thanks for your continued service to our sport.
