This year’s Michigan State USBC WBA Manager of the Year award is being presented to Mark Martin of the Metro Detroit USBC.
Mark has been the Association Manager for Metro Detroit USBC since the merger in 2005. He previously was the Executive Director of the Greater Detroit Bowling Association, and the Secretary of the Detroit Women’s Bowling Association. He had a major influence on the merger of the women’s, men and youth associations in the Metro Detroit area. He is a director on the State Bowling Association Board, and last year was elected to the National USBC Board of directors.
He became a member of the Detroit Hall of Fame in 2003 for all his hard work in the Metro Detroit area for promoting bowling. He oversees a combined membership of over 60,000 bowlers in the Metro Detroit area. He organizes local tournaments for Adult/Youth, Junior Masters, Senior Masters, Queens, 500 Club, Youth Singles, Doubles and Team, etc.
Mark works together with the local proprietors to further bowling in the Detroit area, and sits on a joint committee with Southeast Michigan Bowling Centers Association.
Being on the National board, he gives a voice to our concerns from the State of Michigan yet he reserves an extraordinary amount of time to make sure all of his local functions are run smoothly.
Congratulations Mark, the Michigan State USBC WBA is proud to present you the Manager of the Year award for 2011.
