This year, we proudly dedicate our tournament to Janet Willson now known as "Hall of Fame Jan" since her induction into the Michigan WBA Hall of Fame in 2003. Jan is a member of the Michigan WBA, Pontiac WBA, Pontiac Hall of Fame and as previously mentioned the Michigan Hall of Fame. She lives in Clarkston Michigan.
Jan served over 20 years as secretary/treasurer for the Pontiac WBA of which just recently merged with the Detroit WBA. She was appointed to the Michigan WBA Board of Directors in 1980 and just recently retired with the title of 3rd Vice President due to the change over with the Michigan WBA to USBC. She served on several committees with the Michigan WBA, however if asked I believe she would say her most favorite ones were the Scholarship and the Queen's Tournaments. No truer words could ever have been said then what was recently said that Jan 'adopted' every one of the young ladies who received scholarships from the Michigan WBA. She is also highly respected by the ladies that participate in the Queen's. Another one of Jan's committees that she served on for 15 years is the Michigan State YABA where she attended at least 10 of the YABA National Workshops.
In 1996 jan was selected as the Michigan WBA Secretary of the Year. She has also received many local awards as well.
Not only is Jan committed to the sport of bowling, there is her husband Bill who she just recently celebrated her 50th anniversary with!
When it comes to dedication to the state tournament, Jan comes into the tournament every year with her sister Julie and her granddaughter Tommy. Although she doesn't bowl in the doubles/singles anymore, she is always there in support of her team members.
Dedicating this years tournament to Jan is truly a small way of saying "Thank you Jan" for your many years of service and dedication to the bowlers and the Michigan WBA!
