Lisa began her “bowling career” at the age of 7.
As a youth bowler, she bowled in the Michigan Junior Masters Association tournaments and came away with 23 titles, she bowled in the Junior Tournament Bowlers Association and claimed 24 titles, and was also part of the Western Wayne Youth Traveling Classic (WWYTC).
In 1991, Lisa was named the Michigan State Women’s Bowling Association Star of Tomorrow winning a well deserved scholarship. And she went on to show all of us what A Star she is.
She was a member of Team USA in 1995. In the Pan American games, Lisa won a bronze medal in singles competition and a silver with her team.
Lisa then took on another challenge and went out on the Ladies Professional Bowling tour from 1997-2003, being named “Rookie of the year” in 1997. She went on to win 4 titles while out on tour and she has finished in the top five at the National Queens 3 times.
She bowled in the ladies state tournament for the first time in 1993, and has bowled many times since, taking a few years off while she was on tour. Her state tournament competition produced 5 actual team championships, 2 actual doubles, 1 actual singles (right here in Battle Creek) and 2 actual all events titles.
Lisa has also claimed the Michigan State Queens tournament crown with wins in 2003, 2007, and most recently in 2014 and she will be our defending champion at the tournament in April.
On a local level, Lisa has been named to five Metro Detroit All City Teams, has 7 team, 2 doubles, 2 singles and 3 all events titles. In addition she has 2 Women’s Series titles and 2 Season-long cup titles (for accumulating the most points over the tournament season).
In the Western Wayne County Local association, she has claimed titles in 2 teams, 5 doubles and 2 all events.
Lisa has had a “few” 300 games…. 18 to be exact! And a high series of 834 with 4 other 800 series as well. And her All Star Grille team game of 1303, still ranks 4th in the nation being rolled in 2000.
Lisa has been inducted into three Hall of Fame’s, the Women’s State in 2002, the Metro Detroit in 2008 and in the Western Wayne County Hall of Fame in 2013.
A truly deserving individual for her accomplishments on the lanes and her dedication to the sport. We proudly dedicate our 2015 State Championship Tournament to Lisa Bishop; without a doubt a very deserving individual.
